Hey, Dustin here!
I am still trying to catch up on these here income reports. So November 2015 wasn’t quite as good for us as October was. We had a batch of sponsored videos go out in October and didn’t have as many or any freelance video work to make up for it. This dilemma has made us start to think about how to increase the recurring monthly revenue. We have some ideas on this front and should start laying the groundwork for this in the near future.
Compare to this time last year is crazy we made $751.88 last year in November that’s a 581.74% increase year over year. Probably, can’t expect to improve that much this year but focusing on making small incremental improvements has helped a bunch. Even though it’s a down month from the month before that’s a big positive to hang your hat on.
That is if you wear a hat.
There were some residual 30 Day Healthy income and our Ad revenue has really improved at this time which is great. Looking forward to next year when we can move everything over to AdThrive and really ramp that part up. Also spreading out our income to have many different pieces helped us a ton since we didn’t really solely on one income stream. This has made everything a ton funner and reinvigorated our love for food and fitness. On a content note we have all really enjoyed our renewed focus on healthy food. This has made everything a ton funner and reinvigorated our love for food and fitness.
Really stoked to expand into this area more it really allows Lacey and I to be a lot more creative with cooking and content ideas which has just been a ton of fun.
The reason I started doing these income reports in the past was to have a good way to keep track of all that was going on behind the scenes of ASPC. I like the idea of holding our team accountable as we grow this site into what we think it can be. Whether that’s adding video, improving content, or technical improvements, that might benefit everyone that comes here for Lacey’s great recipes.
We are moving these over to Married to Your Business. The content just seems to fit better over here although we will be adding more food blog specific stuff to ASPC.
If you want to check out the old reports, you can here.
FYI, we are an affiliate for some of the below links. All these suggestions are based on our experience and extensive research.
Important Things In November
November was really about winding down the 30 Day Healthy Launch. We started thinking about how to grow this piece in the future and started delivering all the content we promised to the members.
We also had to film a bunch of stuff for December launches and contract dates.
On the blogging side of things Pinch Of Yum was closing the Food Blogger Pro doors for a while and since it was so valuable for us we wrote a blog post on it and sent out a few emails.
They do a great job teaching people about food blogging and we highly recommend them if you are getting into that niche.
November was our best traffic month ever. We crossed over the 200k visitors a month mark for the first time which was super cool.
When compared to last October, we saw 77% growth this is really how I gauge our success is year over year comparisons. The Food niche especially we tend to have very predictable ebbs and flows of traffic like I know that Feb will be lower in general.
Also over 300k pageviews is very exciting. Setting records in November is usually what happens and then we break all of them in December lol.
Here’s hoping that trend continues.
Top Traffic Sources
For November, most of our traffic was from Google again. This is always the case but we have started to really grow our Social and Direct traffic as well which is nice. We have some ideas on how to improve this even more and have started creating a custom plan for each social channel as well as a better email plan.

November 2015 Expense Report
Since people have been asking for expenses I am starting to include them. I’ll include everything we spend money on here besides the salaries of specific people.
This month was definitely high for us expense wise. Usually our expenses are around $1,000.00 a month or so but with the added income we have from October through December we usually spend a little of it on extra stuff.
This month it was some things for a new video set and also tickets for Vidcon.

The main lesson we learned in November is that we need to really increase the monthly revenue so we aren’t so dependant on freelance contracts and sponsored posts. This is especially true as we transition to bringing Sean on full time for videos in 2016.
Some of the ways we are looking to do this is to turn 30 Day Healthy into a monthly Healthy Academy as well as grow the reach of our meal planning service.
Thanks So Much
Hopefully, all these numbers will help you to improve your own revenue streams on your blog or even start one yourself. We know this wouldn’t exist without everyone supporting this blog. Thanks so much for sharing, commenting, and supporting us and this blog. We really appreciate everyone.
